May the memory of Israel’s heroes be blessed.
Today, it was a great honor for me to take part in the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone for the National Aviation Heritage Center in Atarot, where a special memorial space will be created dedicated to the legendary “Entebbe” operation (“Operation Jonathan”), in honor of its 50th anniversary.
It is here, on the grounds of the former Atarot Airport near Jerusalem, that a museum will be established to preserve the memory of the unparalleled feat of the Israeli heroes who rescued the hostages in Entebbe, and of the operation’s commander, Yonatan Netanyahu, the brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who fell in the line of duty during the operation.
The ceremony was attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu, Mayor Moshe Leon, and other distinguished guests.
