The Chief Rabbi of Odessa, Avram Wolf, said: "He was a kind and cheerful person who actively participated in the life of the community. He went out to defend his home and his family, sacrificing himself, giving his soul as a proud Jew and warrior of light! I pray that the heroic deed of Zvi Hirsch will be an eternal guiding light for our entire community!"
