Today, Israel and Ukraine announced a joint security operation for tens of thousands of pilgrims visiting Uman for Rosh Hashanah, who, despite various rumors and false reports, will be in Ukraine this year.
In close cooperation with Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir and Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Alexander Kornichuk, we have created a unified security and medical assistance system that will operate both at the borders and in Uman itself, so that every pilgrim feels safe.
For me, as Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, it was personally important to be involved in resolving this situation: because the annual pilgrimage—the thousands of prayers that are offered in Uman—must continue!
And this custom cannot be broken, because no matter how you look at it, the Hasidim who pray in Uman literally draw the blessing and mercy of the Almighty for all of Ukraine through the power of prayer!
