The historic synagogue on Peresyp was damaged
During a nighttime attack by russian shahids in Odessa, the historic Nahlas Eliezer synagogue on Peresyp was damaged.
This sacred building, erected at the end of the 19th century, served as a place of prayer, hope, and spiritual strength for the Jewish community of Odessa. Today, we have once again witnessed how war affects not only people, but also holy places and our historical memory.
I contacted the Chief Rabbi of Odessa, Avraham Wolf, and he confirmed that the synagogue was indeed damaged by the strike. But he also said something very important: “We are here and we will remain here — and we will continue our work, no matter what.”
I pray that the Almighty will protect all the residents of Odessa and all of Ukraine!
