Sacred resting place of the Alter Rebbe in Gadyach

I arrived at the sacred resting place of the Alter Rebbe in Gadyach, where a major fire broke out on Saturday.

It was with a heavy heart that I witnessed the aftermath. The fire destroyed the synagogue near the Alter Rebbe’s grave. Enormous damage has been inflicted on this holy site, as well as on the tens of thousands of pilgrims who come to Gadyach from all over the world throughout the year. The site, which breathed new life into the town of Gadyach and attracted significant investment, has been severely damaged!

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The history of the Jewish people has seen many difficult trials. But we have always rebuilt what was destroyed and made it even better than before. I am confident that now, too, with God’s help, we will restore everything that was destroyed.

May the Almighty grant strength to all who are working on the restoration of this place, bless them with success, and may the resting place of the Alter Rebbe become even grander and more beautiful after its restoration!
